Stade nuclear power plant is located on the banks of the River Elbe in the district of Stade in Lower Saxony. It was operated from 1972 to 2003.
From its shutdown in 2003 until the end of 2005, the power plant was in non-commercial operation. Since October 2005 it has been undergoing decommissioning.

Stade is one of the first commercially used nuclear power plants in Germany. It was also a pioneer in producing district heat which was supplied to a neighbouring salt production plant.
